I have been using a normal humidifier to sleep for sometime now during the winter months, and I heard about the ones you just hook to your furance and works for the whole house. I have been reading it also helps save on heating costs as well.

Just wanted to see if anyone else out that has it running.

Throughout the whole house? What are you thinking Tom?!?!? Be careful not to end up with soggy comics and sweaty statues!

I had one of those installed 3 years ago. It takes some time to kick in but it does work. The house will feel less dry. However, I can't say I've noticed any change in our heating bill.

Things to look out for:

1) You'll need to replace the filter and wick once a year.
2) Make sure you set just enough waterflow through the humidifier. If too much water goes through it, it'll overflow and leak. If too little, it won't work properly. Use can use the same setting forever.
3) Pretty much just use the humidifier for the winter months - Dec-Mar.
4) Set it on low as you live in house not a sports arena or gym
5) Keep a baromter in the house, just in case

Thanks for the info!

Can I ask if you installed it yourself or have it done professionally?
