THE WOODS HAVE EYES

BRUNO WALPOTH

Bruno Walpoth's human figures created from limewood or walnut come about as a result of his meeting and dealing with models. On a scale of one-to-one, the bodies, lines and forms of the few young, gaunt men and the myriad of beautiful women take shape from the block of wood by means of his hands. Although Walpoth is attracted to producing concrete likenesses of body parts, such as a shoulder or ankle, and he is pleased with the successful outcome, his concern is not only for a hyper-realistic portrait of the person who stands before him. In his or her outward appearance, the model serves as a cover surface for implied projections. Granted, the facial features and body forms correspond to those of the models, but Bruno Walpoth reduces the strong individual characteristics of the personality in his sculptural representation - those that would constitute the individuality in the classical sense of the portrait.

FOREVER YOUNG

BERIT HILDRE
was born in 1964 in Norway, and sculpts little girls in bronze.

"My little girls are like flowers, wonderfully fresh and beautiful, vulnerable, at the mercy of so many things that can, in an instant, destroy this little miracle; a daisy, a little girl? Little girls believe in angels, fairies, princes and magicians.
Little girls collect all sorts of things; strange pebbles, feathers of angels, nuts fallen from a tree, empty little boxes and secrets in the palm of their hand."

A little softness in this world of brutes...

So What?

I WANT TO BE A BIRD... OR A SUPER HERO

JORGE MARIN

With more than 30 years of career, Jorge Marin (Mexico, 1963) is one of the most known figurative artists in Mexico. Throughout his career, his artistic work has been multifaceted, which has allowed him to cover different disciplines and work with several materials; nevertheless, his creative research led him to bronze and, since then, this metal became his distinctive sign. Thanks to its process, this material enables the artist to reproduce the perfection of anatomical details and the sensation of living matter. Therefore, with his bronzes, he has ventured into different sculptural dimensions, ranging from miniature to monumental sculpture, formats that he has exhibited in Mexico and abroad, redefining public space, generating an unprecedented dialogue between art and audience. His works attest the movement of millions of Mexicans and have incorporated art into everyday life.

BATHERS AND HOT WATER

CAROLE FEUERMAN
is recognized as one of the pioneering figures of hyperrealistic sculpture with Hanson and De Andrea in the late 1970s. Her sculptures represent striking models of realism.

It combines conventional materials such as bronze, resin, steel with more amazing materials such as water, light, sound, video to create hybrid works that provoke strong emotions among the public.

Art historian John T. Spike called her the "queen of super-realism", consolidating her place in art history.

Carole A. Feuerman's prolific career spans four decades and four continents.

ONE PIXEL IS MISSING ( I THINK )

HAN HSU TUNG

Taiwanese artist Han Hsu-Tung sculpts in blocks of wood, adding and eliminating parts in the form of cubes that give each subject a futuristic or even digital appearance.

Han Hsu-Tung?s work seems to come from a bug in the matrix, it alludes to our relationship with screens and digital. It wants to denounce our artificial world constantly immersed in a stream of distorted images.
