I repainted some aspects of the McFarlane Toys Geralt figure with my mini-painting skills.
Areas improved:
1. Swords - Flat, boring, "silver" plastic. Repainted with several metallic paints to add more depths and shine to them.
2. Sheaths - Also had the flat, boring, silver plastic, but had no backs to them (why??? no idea) and paint outside of the lines. There's some depth missing from them, but I didn't care enough to rectify that aspect. And, the swords don't fit all the way inside them, even before I added paint layers to them, unfortunately.
3. Hair/beard - Just one colour, so it looked flat. Added some depth to it with washes and highlights.
4. Armour ties - Corrected some shading issues and other minor paint issues.
I find that since I've taken up miniature painting as a hobby my love of statue/figure collecting has diminished because my paint job expectations for larger scale models (than 35mm by comparison) are elevated, and a lot of statues/figures nowadays do not meet those expectations. Any thoughts? Experienced something similar?
