Hmmm, I'm a trekkie, and others like me will catch on to the entire plot of the film very early on, this film was very very predictable.
Benedict Cumberbatch stole every single scene he was in, and rightly so, he was the best parts of the film.
Chris's Kirk was "better".
Some will like the direction they took with Spock, those familiar with the franchise will surely cringe beyond belief at one particular line, which came at the end of a predictable role reversal.
Uhura, Chekov, Bones -not much impact. Some of Bones' lines were getting silly, you'll giggle in the cinema, but it got too much after.
Good comic relief if that's what your into, some intense "ish" scenes, I say that because if your a trekkie, IMO, the predictability of the storyline didn't give me any room to invest emotionally.
The times when the film actually captured me was during the 20/30% that it was a little more original and not pretending to be WOK.
It was enjoyable to watch I guess, some good action scenes and comedy which provided a teaser into just how good SW7 will probably look and feel, but it just wasn't trek to me, just a bit of a pretender, taking bits from past movies and TV series and sort of blending them together - maybe that was exactly the plan, just not to my taste.
More rambling when the spoiler thread starts.
