It would seem it is the first human/engineer blend xenomorph that existed. There are probably already engineer xenomorphs. Is there anything really significant about joining xenomorphs, humans, and engineers for the first time? I agree with you Primal, I don't think so, but it made a great closing scene to the film and it demonstrates how easily the xenomorph DNA can be joined together with human DNA, setting up the premise for the ALIEN franchise.
We now know that Xenomorph DNA is essentially what is in that black goop, and from the film we also know that the black goop will merge itself with any life form that it comes into contact with and "xenomorph" it.
Something interesting to think about, the size of the "hugger" that comes from Shaw being so enormous, must have something to do with the strength of the black goop. The DNA must degrade as it propagates in actual creatures apart from the black goop.
