Samewise. Have seen it happen with several pieces from P1 now. Someone also said they're a company that is little interesting for flippers (unlike XM), no idea why though.

there is very little you can scalp these days. Almost all of the xm statues can be had for retail or less except for a few.

the unique take on venom (his legs) and the fact that they haven't addressed the seam issue (yet) is what is holding this one back...of course coupled with the fact that it is the last of the 3 to be solicited.

If I had to guess, it's because they've shown they don't mind to do color variants which I'm not a fan of. Also, the high price tag and multiple versions of characters(Turtles, Optimus Prime and Batmans) won't keep high demand because there's always another version coming.

True, I don't see my P1 pieces I have on PO selling for a profit, certainly not the New 52-line, which I plan on ordering in total. Then again, I neverbought them with the intention of selling so...

I think People will jump on this as P1 gradually reveals the rest of their spider man line...or most likely a lot of people already jumped on the Sideshow and XM sculpts and can't turn back now.
Worst case scenario, when this gets in hand...people will clamor to get it. I could be wrong, but I don't think this will depreciate in the aftermarket. Especially the exclusive.

Personally I think the reason it hasn't sold out is more due to the seam issue rather than potential variants. After all, some people who are interested in PO'ing have already stated that they're currently refraining from ordering due to the seam strongly influencing how one can "seamlessly" display the piece.

P.S. I apologise for the wordplay, couldn't help myself.
