When I got the email from splashpageart with this cover listed I said "hey maybe I'll get that." Backed off when I saw the price, lots of other new Marko stuff there though, couple things may find there way to me... all for less than the cost of this one cover.

ANyone who'd drop 5500 on a something that is a stones throw away from being a prelim drawing (cause no matter how you spin it, thats all Marco's covers are...) is CRAZY. After the next BIG Thor revial comes out, you wouldn't even get 1/5 of your investment returned if you needed to sell it.

Hell, you could get an Alex Ross PAINTING for that kind of money!!!

I love Mark at SPlashpage, but he is seriously bleeding new collectors dry when pricing stuff like this. (Cause no long term collector would EVER pay that much for THAT cover...)

I like Marko's art, but I wouldn't pay that if it was inked. I mean, I think even Coipel's covers for this series are cheaper than that. I wonder who has already paid that much for Marko's stuff for him to be able to command that price already.

Newbies who havent been around long enough to see the dangers of paying big money for hot new artists. Let alone hot new artists who do 90% of their work on computer and sell the prelims* as if they're acrylic versions the photoshopped work.

*I am aware Marko uses these as the base for the digital painting making it more than a prelim...but come on...look at it!

Oh, and 5K for even one of Copiels Thor covers is rediculous!

You are correct. The Olivier Coipel cover for #1 was 5k. $500 cheaper and I thought THAT price was way too much. #1 is probably the only cover people will really remember.

Marko's a fine artist, but as someone said already, his originals are just (albeit well done) pencil drawings that he uses as guides for his digital paintings. Nothing wrong with that...unless you're asking $5,500 for the originals IMO.

WTF !!! That's absurd for that piece !! I've had dealings with Mark from Spalshpage and he was a very fair guy . This must've been something the artist required .

yeah, if you look at the other Marko stuff on the website, it is a lot more reasonable. Wish he had done his Hulk stuff on pencil and paper as opposed to a stinkin' computer.
