People that want the image will just save a scan to their computer and call it today. This stuff isn't original art. You make some fair points regarding popularity waning over the years and thus eventually prices do tend to fall.
What you should consider in this whole intrinsic value is the volume of what is printed.
Fans and retailers were buying X-Men #1 in BULK back in the day, similar to Death of Superman, etc.
Here's it's a different ballgame, hence, why I don't think it applies and the value will only climb over time.
Campbell realizes this and rightfully should charge a fee to his signature. It's only common cents.
