Ok one for you MOTU fans.

Is there any comics of MOTU that's a definitive read or a series that wasn't campy like the cartoon and was a more serious take on it?

Any input appreciated

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

alway been a fan of the original mini- comics. Don't collect Motu classics so couldn't tell you if those are any good. DC currently has a series thats gained a pretty good following and is probably what you're looking for. Haven't actually got around to reading them myself though, but I will eventually.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

As RT said, the original mini comics are great.

The first arc of the current DC comic was pretty bad; however, the second arc was much better. I haven't read the latest arc yet because I just got a hold of issue two today, but from everything I've heard, it is good as well. The current comic is definitely not Filmation or campy.

I don't think there is a definitive read though. The MOTU mythos is very fragmented. Every incarnation has taken significant liberties with what came before.

I have enjoyed all of the MOTU comic series from the original mini-comics to the DC series now.

Yep. It's concept, but looked good. Kind of foggy, so hopefully that's just an artist interpretation and not a sign they are getting edgy and dark for the movie. I don't need a Dark Knight He-Man. More a serious yet fun He-Man tone like the Avengers or first Iron Man movie.

I know you're just using the movies you mentioned for comparison, but I hope its nothing like any of them. I've never thought of MOTU as being similar to comic book/superhero stuff.
