"Parenting" Gone Too Far.

Comin' out of the surf this morning, a friend pointed out a guy who wouldn't let his daughter (probably 7 or 8.. who should be at school, obviously) come back in from the surf. She was waist deep and the breaks were only around four feet or so this morning, but that still means she was going under every so often.

We didn't even register what was happening before Nancy, a friend from Oz (she's been here since the mid-90's ) , was in the water again and chewing the guy a new @sshole. She grabbed the girl and helped her to shore.

I guess the girl was suggesting that her Dad was trying to "get me to swim", Nancy said. Swim lessons in the ocean? That particular beach has a mean undertow there, too (Morro Rock, in Morro Bay, CA.). She said it was her father, and she was okay, and Nancy said something to the Dad that she wouldn't repeat to us..

But... wow. @ssholes come in all shapes and sizes.

Someone should take him out 20 miles and tell him to swim his way back.

Just teaching him endurance.

Maybe he was trying to get rid of his kid.
Not everyone is made to be a parent and at 7 or 8 years old she's too big and old to be left in a garbage can.

Plenty of beaches around here, but Morro Rock has the only real undertow, so you could be right.

It's a twofer.. since there's sometimes sharks out that way also.
