artist not meeting obligations-good ending

About seven weeks ago I contacted an artist on putting together the roughs for an eight character, 3 page jam page that I could start at Heroes Con this week. He said he could meet that date with no problems so I sent him the money and the reference art. Didn't hear anything for a bit so I e-mailed about 3 weeks ago and he said he was doing it. Gave him my home address again to send and asked for a scan of it before he sends it out. Cut to late last week and still nothing so I sent him an e-mail with no response. E-mailed again on monday and asked for a refund since I had still not seen anything. No response. E-mailed again this morning and then again this afternoon and he pushed back all my money a few minutes ago. I would have preferred the actual rough pages but at least I have my money in time to spend it on something else at the show.

Sounds like he wanted to try and squeak it in, but didn't have the time and was too embarrassed to say that out-right and gave the cash back.

Enjoy Heroes and hope you get something sweet with your reacquainted monies

Oh man, glad you got your refund in time at least. I imagine some stuff just came up and delayed everything - good thing the artist didn't spend the money already. This is how it should always end (unless you get the actual art on time).

Thanks to TC and Facebook, I already got a sneak peak of an advance piece an artist did in my sketchbook and it looks awesome!

Thank you for this topic!

It reminded me that I need to ask about (again) a refund promised from an artist.

Although I have no con to go to... it'll pay for my next Roger Andrews + Go towards my next SF commish.
