I think "supposed to be leaning" might not be accurate. All of the pictures I have seen of the statue prior to release have been pretty vertical. Even at Toy Fair 2017 the statue was pretty straight and the art drawing is definitely vertical.

1) The proto didn't lean.

2) You are perpendicular to the Earth underwater as on land.

I remember the Supergirl Cover Girls Adam Hughes statue had a leaning problem as well:

The Supergirl had a leaning issue if the peg wasn't put into the hole facing in the right direction. It was square so you had a 25% chance to get it right. I messed with mine over a few hours and she has been on display for several years now and no lean at all.
