Tonight's my first night workin' the phone at a local abuse hotline.
The one time I went that route and called during the latter years of my marriage? There were NO hotlines geared towards men in the States..I got tossed around nationally (and a little globally), and worldwide.. people don't believe men suffer from spousal abuse, be it emotional, physical, whatever.
Yeah, we try and "ride out" the bad times since we're so big and tough
.. but the assumption that guys don't eventually need someone to talk to beside friends or family (and that only women need such support)?
Stupid.
I definitely won't just "brush off" any guys that call.
