Is Star Wars OT Dead?
With all the Star Wars exhaustion and Disney curb stomping our beloved franchise into the sidewalk, can we expect the original trilogy to be dead for collectors?
Maybe we will continue to see rehashes of the main circle (Luke, Han, Vader, Fett, Leia, erm... stormtroopers....umm...ya that’s about it) but what about the outer circle? What about the characters that make this galaxy interesting?
I’m talking about the aliens. I think a key mistake from the prequels and new films is that they have introduced countless new life forms. I personally like to see the recognizable races crop up from time to time. But now I know there’s a planet full of Dex guys, and shapeshifters, and little guys in goldfish bowls like the singing dude on the crimson dawn ship.
Will we see a statue of maybe an old school Greedo leaning on the cantina wall looking at a holoprojection of Han Solos bounty? Will we get a dancing Twilek or a nice big Gamorrean? Even a new Palpatine 1/4 after many many years of him being MIA on the statue front.
Are these characters dead now to companies like SS? What’s your thoughts?

I feel more like the Prequels are dead, aside from the occasional use of the word Sith or referring to the Emperor as Darth Sidious. Disney seems intent on milking the OT nostalgia for everything it's worth, forgetting that there is an entire generation raised on the Prequels that love that stuff.

Disney's output is not SW to me. As long as licensees are free to pick whatever they want to make as before, and that they're not forced to insert references to the Disney universe in OT/PT product, I'm good.

With how much statues are now, SSC wont make most Star Wars characters. When PF were in the 200.00s I had such a big list of of characters,, I gave up on those many years ago. I bought so many in my years of collecting. I bought Jedi Luke Pf, Snowtrooper Pf , Clonetrooper PF, Cody Pf, original Darth Maul Pf, Scouttrooper PF, Speeder Bike PF, Anakin Pf. Mech Maul Pf.
Boba Fett Pf. Second half of this decade just bought Darth Vader, Jango Fett Pf. Now at $550.00 on up would have to be a character on my list.

It killed my interest in the revival. This is why I’m more determined to keep my focus on OT. I will however say that R1 was exceptional and complimented the originals well.
