Could be. There are no book spoilers in this thread but this isn't a book spoiler, just an observation. This what happens to him in the book too but if anything it is even more ambiguous in the book and it just says he gets stabbed and that's as far as the book goes and is currently the most recent book so even us book readers don't know for sure.

It's wild that the show has caught up to certain storylines in the book. It puts the book faithful in an interesting predicament. Whether to continue watching the show and spoil the book for themselves or to abstain from the show until the new books come out.
And that doesn't even begin to touch the dynamic between GRRM and the showrunners. Do they continue to tell the author's story or does it become its own alternate universe type of thing with original stories and characters. Not sure if this has happened before on this grand a scale.

I have to agree.
After the stair down between Jon and the White walker leader you would think there is something more to come between these two. An epic fight or something. Maybe Snow comes back as a white walker.
Terrible ending.

it's already it's own universe, this whole season has pretty much been them making stuff up and doing what they please.

I firmly believe that Jon Snow will be back in some form. Whether he wargs into Ghost, turns into a White Walker or Melisandre resurrects him much the same way Thoros of Myr did for Beric Dondarrion after being defeated by The Hound back in season 3, I just don't feel we've seen the last of him.
