For the cape I'd rather have a sculpted one but if it is as good as Magneto's one, why not. The main benefit would be the lesser place it would take on my shelf.
And for the base, a tornado is not original but as I don't have any, it is not an issue to me and it is representative of her power (in french, her name is actually tornade and not tempête (the right translation for storm).

I am very happy it’s a Newman sculpt since I hoped it was him from the beginning sculpting. Lots of people wanted Harbottle. And you’re right that the word is “ethnic”. I love his first Storm bc she is curvy and has a unique face. I’m really wondering why she looks much less curvy here (so much like Jean)? Hopefully a full reveal will show us she isn’t just like Jean from the waist up.
And that is fascinating about her name in French. I wonder why it is translated to tornade instead of tempete?

Well I hope you guys wanting the black costume spam the hell out of the sideshow suggestion box. I’m sure it will likely be a variant in 2022-23. She’s to popular of a character not to have one.
Also everyone knew it was gonna be the Jim Lee version so how many times are we gonna hear you say “if it’s Jim lee Storm hard pass”. We knew a few months ago it was gonna be an insta pass for you. Everyone is not so tired of the costume since they keep buying it and SS/XM will be the only 1/4th of this costume and now they can move on after it’s done.
It was a long wait for her announcement, now I’m just wondering how long it will be before we see her fully. Are we a few days or a few months out ? I don’t expect her in hand until Q2 2022.

Definitely not Black, but could be a white-ish color with a silver-ish reflection. Left up to interpretation. My interpretation always leaned more towards white. A much better look IMHO.

Would agree but Cyclops was wearing his in Uncanny X-Men during 2019 up until House of X started. It’s also in a few video games.

I don't know but it is weird, a few example :
Rogue translates into Malicia which doen't exist as a word but malice does so the ia is to femenize it, and it means playful.
And by the way, I never understand why Rogue is called Rouge sometimes (in french it means red) ?
Iceman is Iceberg, no idea why ???
Cyclops is literal : Cyclope as are Scarlet Witch (la Sorcière rouge), white queen/king etc (reine/roi blanche/blanc), Sabertooh (Dent-de-Sabre), Black Bolt (Flèche Noire) Hawkeye (Oeil de Faucon), Black Widow (la Veuve Noire) etc, etc...
Gambit stays Gambit and it means nothing in french, like Havok, Polaris, Magneto, Stryfe etc...
There is also the man/woman that we almost/never traduce like Spider/Iron/Super/Bat/ Man, don't know why maybe because in french it sounds too reidiculous.
And the last but not least : Wolverine, at first he was known as Serval so not the literal translation that would have been Carcajou/Glouton but I totally understand, it is so ridiculous, Logan wouldn't ever been taken seriously. So no big deal at this point but at the middle or end of the 90's after the anime (it was Serval in the opening), they suddenly changed it to Wolverine... No reason at all, but the french distributor changed so maybe the boss didn't like his name but all the other french names were fine

Ha, I was about to say the same thing. Probably just a common spelling mistake.

I don’t know why Storm’s French name isn’t a direct translation but it does remind that the Storm we have now is a combination of unused characters. It’s long, but her visual creator Dave Cockrum (NOT John Byrne, he drew Storm but he didn’t design her, y’all gotta start giving the correct credit where it’s due) explained it in an interview
Quote:
"When I became a pro and I was doing Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes I proposed four new legionnaires," artist Dave Cockrum recalled in The X-Men Companion. "I had a guy who was a weather handler called Typhoon who had a flowing dark cape with yellow trim."
The many different elements needed to create the perfect STORM
"When I did up the original X-Men designs, one of the characters was called the Black Cat. Take a look at Storm without the white hair and without the cape, and that's essentially the Black Cat. She had dark hair, which was sort of like Wolverine's, tufted on top with the ear effect. And she could transform either into a cat I preferred the idea of a house-cat and I think we were talking about both a house-cat and a panther and she could also half-transform into a humanoid cat."
"She was a very striking-looking character. This was before the project got shelved. It got shelved, time passed, and in the interim there must have been two dozen female cat characters. You had Tigra and the Cat. It seemed kind of stupid to go on and do another cat character with all the other ones running around, and so we dropped the whole shtick. We were hassling and arguing and trying to figure out how we could work her in, and we had already planned to use Typhoon from the Legion of Super-Heroes proposal. But we couldn't figure out what to do with the black girl. We really liked her. We wanted to use her, and (Editor-in-Chief) Roy Thomas just threw out, "Why don't you make her Typhoon?" And everybody's mouths were hanging open. I ran out of the room and drew her with long white hair and a cape on and came back in and that was it. Everybody said, "Yeah! Yeah!" and her working name was Typhoon for awhile."
Storm and the Furies
"She was called Typhoon originally, and none of us liked it," recalled writer Len Wein in The X-Men Companion. "It didn't sound feminine enough, it sounded like something you spat rather than said, and we talked to Roy about it as he was going out the door. "Well, she's a mistress of the storm, she's got all these powers, what do we call her?" And he said, "Why don't you simply call her Storm?" And we all went, "Jesus, Johnny Storm" And he went, "So what?" and we said, "Okay, you're the boss," and we called her Storm."

I am happy to see that a much wanted character like Storm will be released again by Sideshow.
Good stuff for every fan and collector who had impatiently been waiting for the arrival of Ms Munroe!
I personally like Storm best when she wears her white costume (that costume somehow really stuck with me) but i think it would also be cool if her costume would be silver/blue like in the picture below:
We will just have to wait and see for the full reveal but I have a feeling this statue will look awesome.
