To avoid scratches you need clean carboard below the sheet and also small piece of carboard in your hand keeping it below the footbed of the saw while moving along the line.
Best cutting result is with the blades for cutting metal (use yellow or red). For selecting the correct blade, check the fineness of the teeth by comparing it to thickness. There should always be at least three teeth touching the tickness of the acrylic sheet.
Only problem i had afterwards was glueing them with instant glue (zap-a-gap). The fumes left some white stains along some edges. Now i read that UV glues are cleaner/more transparent.
