Convention dos and don'ts..need help

Hi all, I was thinking about going to Mid-Ohio comic con in October. I want a Ethan VS commission, and maybe others if I can get one. My question is do you get these arraigned before going, do you get in line early and have to choose which line to get in (figuring that it will take a while in line), or do you sign up then walk around and pick it up later? Watch them do it?
I remember someone saying bring cash, they like it better then CC. How much do commissions cost, I realize they vary depending upon the artist. But how much is Ethan at a con?
How long are the lines for commissions, do they have cut off points? How long do you stand in line?
I have never been to a comic con, just looking for some tips so I can maximize my trip. Or help with any other tips I might of forgot to ask about....

Well Mid Ohio is a smaller one. If you order a sketch the day of the show, you will have to have cash. Some artists like Van Sciver will take a commission list ahead of time. He sometimes posts a thread over on Jinxworld, that you can pm him. He will then take a paypal payment but you have to cover the cost of the transaction. Ethan however usually never gets all the ones that he has preordered done for the show. He charges $100 for a head, and $200 for a fullfigure, background is an extra $100. A vs. piece with background will cost you $500. But if the VS. piece is not done before the show then you are not going to get one of those at the show.

But as far as larger conventions go. The sought after people are booked within 15-30 minutes. They will put your name on a list, and you can then walk around, and try to stop back when they do yours.

A place like San Diego, you must go to the artist you want the most 1st. You usually always get your first pick. But by the time to get to your 2nd or 3rd it may be to late. I would say Mid Ohio, is not a huge comic art collector type of crowd. I would say you can get almost all of the people you want in the first 3 hours.

Jade already asked over on Jinxworld if Ethan is going to have a pre-con list and his wife said he is not so plan on getting there really early!!!!!!

Lines? Doom doesn't stand in lines! Simply walk up to them and demand that they draw something for Doom and you'll spare their lives!

I have been trying to get on his list for the MOC for a while now but I like Joe said ... no list so I will be hitting him up early. Let me know if you are going doom - we can meet up at his line

makes sense why they are building a list for the MOC ... sounds like they already have a backlog built up
