The scene where Hooper finds the body in the wrecked boat still makes me cringe, 40 years later. It didn't bother my 8-year-old daughter in the least. Kids these days, I tell ya...

Remaking JAWS?! Blashpemy.
This is my all-time favorite movie. I got my degree in Marine Biology because of this movie. To this day, the Hooper and the pop-up head in boatwreck freaks me out -- I never watch that scene.
While some may find the shark scenes laughable, you may not find them so laughable if you do diving or any sort of work with sharks. If you can look past the mechanical effects there is a LOT of truth in the imagery of the shark. The cold, black depth of their eyes. The abyss of their open mouths surrounded by serrated knives. Their talent of coming out of nowhere and just being curious. Sharks, particularly Whites, are beautiful and flawless IMO. I LOVE them and wish I got to use my degree more, but now a days it's all recreational shark petting
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to watch JAWS on the big screen. It was the first time after seeing it at least 100 times on a TV. It was gamechanging!! I can see why the movie was a summer sensation, why people didn't go swimming, and were/are F'ed up about the ocean. If the opportunity presents itself, go see it on the big screen - the scene were the man gets eaten in the pond was totally different for me. It's sobering, scary, and still gives me chills since I saw it in the theatre.
