I know Avatar grossed a lot of money, but is it even part of the pop culture conversation anymore? I watched it once and was bored to tears. (I fast forwarded through most of it.)

I highly disliked Avatar. Sure, the effects were stunning but the story was a snooze and, frankly, a recycling of the Ferngully animated film.

....and 'Dances with Wolves' and 'Pocahontas' and a book called 'Call Me Joe' which centers on a paraplegic who telepathically connects with an artificially created life form in order to explore a harsh planet. So yeah, pretty unoriginal. You could make a solid argument most of Avatar is a rip-off of other people's work. That said I did enjoy the film despite that and despite how annoying a person Cameron is.

Just watched this over the weekend and though it was just ok. The for a big studio blockbuster the CGI was pretty poor and totally took me out of the movie.
