It’s time for republicans everywhere to embrace the horror. McCain is done. It’s over.

Foolish.
Gore was like 9 up on Bush right now.
Reagan was behind Carter as well.
Florida and Ohio were polling for Kerry at this time.
Sometimes you just have to have an election to decide the election. Crazy I know.

the florida presidential election of 2000 was fixed. just ask all those people whose votes were tossed out. like the absentees and those folks in palm beach county. i'm very surprised that the country didn't DEMAND an official recount, being that this was only the second time in US history that the popular vote didn't win the election.

I agree. But McCain's defeat is no horror compared to what's gone on during the past eight years. McCain's biggest problem is that he's a member of the same party that has done so much damage since 2000. Few people want to side with any party that includes George Bush. People want change. Republicans had control of the House, the Senate and the White House, and the results were poor (to put it mildly). People want hope. Not more of the same.
This opinion is coming from someone who would have voted for McCain in the last two presidential elections, if McCain had been his party's nominee. The Republicans had their shot. It's time for someone else to take their swings.

I think he's talking about the last two years that they've been in control which really doesn't count because of the obstructionist Republican members.
