ThreeA Halo Reach 1/6 figures

I haven't seen another thread about these which I thought was unfortunate since these are pretty awesome. So here you go.

3A released Commander Carter 1/6 figure last year and Emile came out this year. The figures are highly detailed with great weathering effects on the paint job which is 3A's style. The figures are fully articulated* right down to the fingers. They also feature magnets to secure* grenades, packs, rifles and armor pieces onto the body. My favorite feature is the LED lighting which give the figures as amazing look Overall if your a Halo fan (Reach or not) you should definitely check these out.
Unfortunately they aren't perfect. Articulation is hampered because of the rubber under suit (just like Hot Toys and Medicom figures). The fully articulated fingers are also very delicate and don't grip as well as they should. The LED lights require a use of a total of eight watch batteries (3 in each arm & 2 in back) which aren't cheap. I spent almost $40 on each figure in batteries. The worst part was installing the batteries in the arms. I had to use tweezers and a lot of patience and ingenuity. Another design flaw is that in order to turn on the chest lights on Carter you have to pop off the back armor (which also feels delicate and has fragile pins for lights). Luckily 3A learned from that , on Emile they put the on/off switch on the outside.

**** I used an actionClix Cortana

I used to collect 1/6 a few years back, but ultimately I just can't see the point. A lot of the time the articulation means the figures are very unstable, and unless you're one of "those" people who actually play with the figure......the norm is to put them on a display shelf, with one pose and that's it.......completely negating their only selling point. I'd be much more interested in a 1/6 sculpt than a toy play figure.

Thank you. I can't take all the credit for Cortana. I got the idea for her from YouTuber "Anthony's Custons" although he used an LED light and smaller McFarlane figures.

I see your point. Although once I find a pose I like I don't feel like changing it even though I can.
I find it funny that you call them toys. It reminds me of when friends and family who aren't collectors see my PF statues. They always say " you collect dolls?" Lol. I don't even bother correcting them anymore. I say "yeah I collect dolls".

In reality anything that makes you have fun and smile is a toy.

It helps if you buy the statues without the doll clothing on them

I find friends and family tend to give movie statues more of a pass especially if you have them displayed in cabinets around your big screen TV, they view them more as décor for your movie room. But if their based on comic book versions or video games then yeah they look at them more as toys...

My use of the word toy wasn't intended as an insult, it was an acknowledgment of the function of the product!! The concept of the action figure is to change its pose, or why else even have articulation?!? Given that this is the base intent behind the product, one would assume a level of " regular" involvement with the product by the product owner, hence "playing" with the product, hence the use of the word toy!

A statue is hardly a "toy" in the same sense, in as much as a Van Gogh painting isn't a toy, they're both art pieces intended for display and nothing else. For someone to call a PF a doll, in the sense of a "toy" doll, simply exposes their ignorance on the matter. You wouldn't call a statue in a museum, from ancient Greece, a doll, for obvious reason.

And while I don't actively collect 1/6th figures anymore, I still own a couple. I have no issue with people labeling them as dolls or toys, as I acknowledge that this is what they are......even if I chose to not use them as such.

Lol. I wasn't insulted nor did I mean anything bad by what I said.

ThreeA also has Master Chief coming out. They also mentioned the possibility of an Elite!

I would prefer to only collect statues, but until Sideshow can catch up to Hot Toys in terms of likenesses I'll always have a few Hot Toys on the shelf. Just compare the Hot Toys Christoper Reeve Superman to the Sideshow PF. It's because of situations like this that I still collect Hot Toys as well as statues.
