Car loans here are usually around 12.5% for a first time buyer. However keep in mind that car prices here are insanely high! Most home loans go for around 8-10%, there was a stage around the early 2000s where interest rates rocketed to around 25%!

Good and bad angles to this. When I was a kid, savings accounts gave higher interest rates, like 7%, but mortgages and loans had rates in the high teens.

I say put your money in a jar and bury in the yard like our great Grandparents used to do. Personally I think banks are fat and criminal.

The entire world financial system encourages consumption even while incurring large debts and disincentivies savings of all kinds. It will only get worse with "means testing" programs and the type of wealth confiscation going on in Cypress and proposed in the Eurozone.

Bad idea. Really bad.
