So the TV series IMO and the creator's opinion does the series justice fine.

i'm watching E7 and Samurai Champloo in English but Gunbuster is in Japanese w/ English subtitles.
sometimes i'll go back and watch it in English or Japanese but i often end up not finishing it. actually it happens more often when i go to English mode. there are some really bad voice actors out there! lol

Gunbuster is the Greatest OVA ever. I still cry at the ending everytime.
Make sure to pick up Diebuster as well. I believe the first vol hits the US next month.

Okay, Diebuster, so you guys are talking about the giant robot Gunbuster...
I finished the Diebuster already, I don't like the robot/character design at first but it gorws on me fairly quick.
The first one is still a better series but Diebuster is also one of the better animes I've seen for years.
The ending is...stirking I say, as shocking as the first one.
Another excellent series anyway!
And I quite like the opening song.
