Delayed till October

Just got the email

Quote:
Thank you again for your support on the NCC-1701 U.S.S. Enterprise. We are really sorry to inform you of this but, due to critical revisions to the tooling the ship date has slipped a bit to October 2023. As you know, we are extremely dedicated to this project and would rather deliver an authentic and accurate replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise in contrast to misrepresenting any of the integral details. Our collectors mean the world to us and we want to deliver the best replica possible!

I'd rather something get delayed by a few months than there being problems with the item in 2 years+ time =)

Amen.

It can go into next year if needed for me. Get it right as possible. With something complex with lights and moving parts, nitpicking details, please take their time. I'll be staring at it for years to come.

Delivery in October may be a problem for me, but the extra wait isn't.

This is their first project like this. I expected there to be a few kinks to work out, including with the time line.

There was also an update in April that showed the packaging and the first metal mock up of the ship with paint apps.

I just got an email from my local Australian retailer that they will charge the remaining balance and ship out this week!?

EDIT: Now I’m definitely thinking it’s an error. Probably just an automated email for whatever reason.

A lot of worrisome chatter about this over on RPF.

Sounds like much of what was claimed, as far as finished quality, won't be what be what we'll be getting after all.
Also a lot of evasion to direct questions from backers looking for clarification.

That whole "too good to be true" part seems to finally be shaking out.

Now my store has charged me and shipped something to me.

I wonder if they mistakenly sent the Playmates version instead?

EDIT: And it looks like they’ve shipped it by a parcel courier service, rather than the standard one used for smaller items.

The measurement of the box being sent is:

91 x 51 x 33cm

(36” x 20” x 13”)

Looks like it’s legit, given that the Final package size from the official website is: 35.625" x 19.625" x 12.25"

Now I’m just wondering why I haven’t seen any in hand images anywhere.

Maybe you are in the first batch? I would have thought they would want to show the finished product before they ship, but who knows.

That's what I would've thought too.

And you have to remember that this was supposed to be US only. And if legit, for a little Australian retailer to get it first is quite funny.
