Anime often compliments a directors storytelling in a way that a movie with "real actors" could never. Just look at "Howl's Moving Castle" (Hauru no ugoku shiro) and "Spirited away" (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi). Magical and great in every way and the #1 reason why i love well done anime so much.
Obviously, as with non anime film, there's a lot of crap out there and i think why most people have no love for anime is because a lot of times it can be hard to not feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of anime movies/series out there that are extremely targeted at a specific audience.

Miyazakis films are beautiful! Totoro is one of my all time favorite films...

So you do know Totoro...
I have a whole set of Studio Ghibli films, great stuff...
And GentleMidget has his point but still, in America, you only see a tniy fraction of actual Japanese Animes, like the very tip of the iceberg.
And I believe Japanese has lose control on anime already, not only the quality of the actual anime but the opening/ending song are horrible as well...
For April, there're 28 new animes released in Japan, yes 28 , and 2/3 of them are super crappy and pointless...

lets see rider, a long time ago i saw this anime film about a princess that had to find a certain number of warriors like 6/9/or 12? lmao anyways i cant remember the name of it help me!!! lol
