This was a great cult classic I wouldn't mind a remake if it was a good remake.
I wounder if they would do a remake off the Wanderers this wasn't to bad for its time.

It was Cyrus from the Gramercy Riffs that got shot. I thought Cleon said to Swan that they were the biggest in NY, so that's cool....
The Orphans are defenitely not the coolest, cause they didn't even get invited to the delegation.

I think a remake will be almost completely different outisde of the premise. You couldn't do the themed gangs today. Let's face it, they were outrageous and theatrical to the extreme. Which worked, for the time. Today, people know what real gangs are like to a much greater degree.
Also, in the original movie, no one had a gun except the murderer. His actions, plus the fact that he used a gun, made him unique within the gangs. Even when the Warriros were running no one ever confronted them with a gun. Today, every two-bit crack dealer to the dork in high school has a gun.
I just don't think they can pull this off. It would have to be an entirely different movie. The paranoia and fear that anyone of them could be picked off is the only thing that could make it work, IMO. Paranoia on a level like "Alien" and intensity like "Aliens".

I think the girl gang was called the Lizzies, but I'm not 100% sure.
Coolest looking gang though, hands down - The Baseball Furies!

Yup it was the Lizzies. I just got the remastered DVD last week and watched it again. Man it is kinda cheesy, but still a classic.

This was one of the coolest movies ever when I was young. I am ashamed to admit I don't have it on dvd  ... yet

I love this movie and completely agree with most of you here that the remake will just be a 2 hour long rap video and most likely devoid of any real entertainment value. Whatever, they'll remake it because as stated before they'll make a killing of the kids going to see it and the soundtrack and the street cred and the....blah, blah...man, I'm starting to sound like my Dad.
