Stale, slightly burnt, and the butter was rancid. It was the best part of my entire viewing experience today.

Sweet Revenge (1990)
6.7/10

Light-hearted, slightly daft drama with a hint of comedy made watchable by a top cast including:
Rosanna Arquette, Carrie Fisher and John Sessions

What an absolute cluster fu*k. Cringe ham fisted nostalgia aspects aside, the movie's first half starts as a nice slow burn but devolves into a needlessly long slog.

Then you have the second half where the attitude seemed to be "screw it, sh*t needs to happen now" and it's just one ridiculous and/or over the top set piece after another breaking immersion or any sense of tension.

The final act is not only laughably bad but completely out of place and felt like a tacked on sequence to end the movie on a bang. Good rule of thumb when making a movie is if you're trying to scare your audience but they're laughing, you completely failed.
Watching the trailer prior to Deadpool & Wolverine, a trailer that shows behind the scenes footage, is not something i had witnessed before.
Straight from the get-go, i sensed the lead actress was no match for Sigourney Weaver.
No i have not watched the movie. Your comments have summed up my preconceptions. I will wait for the Blu-ray to drop

I watched a review by Mark Kermode. In the grand Alien scheme of things, he placed Romulus 3rd after Alien and Aliens.
This has given me some hope. I was never fan of Alien 3, Alien 4 or Prometheus, and refuse to watch Alien vs. Predator

Alien 3 sh*it's all over this movie. Without considering the AvP movies I'd place this between 4 and Covenant in terms of awfulness.

Another small thing I forgot that pissed me off were the dollar store facehuggers. Characters consistently just swat them away over and over again with only one successfully attaching itself. The threat and dread they used to pose is stripped away and they feel like more of a nuisance now than anything else.

Oh..
Look at the threat the original Big Chap was in Alien. Such a mean beast. That is what made it so great!

I was never a fan of Alien 3. Wasn't that the movie where they held some Alien's in glass cages? ..and the same movie where Aliens could swim? I never viewed Aliens making for good swimmers.

I guess the original Alien was so far ahead of its time, nothing will ever match it, and only attempt to emulate it, borrow from it.
Covenant? i do not think i have watched that one. I am pretty sure i have not watched it.

Alien Romulus 6/10. Ridley Scott had to involve that stupid black goo. Was not better than alien 3. The zero g pulse rifle/acid scene was great tho.

Deadpool Wolverine 9/10
