Cleaning question
Hi all.
I'm sure cleaning Bowen statues has come up before.
So I apologize if I'm asking something that's come up hundreds of times.
I recently got a white Moon Knight statue, and the previous owner had to be a smoker.
He's a little yellowish in spots.
Is there a way to safely get it cleaned up, or am I better of trying to get it repainted?

It depends on what type of spots you are talking about.
Sounds crazy, but believe it or not I've removed many blemishes from statues by using an eraser and literally erasing the blemishes from the surface of the statues. The removed Marks were strike or bump marks if the invisible woman's blue hand hit THING's Orange skin and left a blue mark. I'd try getting pencil with a (in this case WHITE) SOFT not dried out eraser and try to carefully attempt to erase the blemishes away. Many times the blemishes have not broken through the paint finish (as the pant jobs are sealed) and it's a surface blemish. The eraser technique creates a friction with the paint surface and rubber eraser and it has worked multiple times for me. But you have to delicate light hands when you are erasing. Depending on the blemishes this could work.

I hate people that smoke indoors. Specially around children, animals and collectibles. True collectors will never damage precious pieces of art with this selfish and nasty habit.
In any case, you can use some soap and water. As surprising as it may seem, it helps. Also, you can use cleaners especially designed for stone and plastic (like pledge multi surface). Just be gentle with it. It may sound scary to some, but I have washed statues many times. Specially those I buy from the secondary market. I'm a bit OCD.

I have literally just gently run some warm water on a few of mine without hitting the peg and allowed them to drip dry. They look as good as the day I bought them. As for yellowing I would try the white eraser and if that didn't work then have it painted.
