Mad Magazine goes quarterly
dunno if this has been posted yet, but wondering why there was no Mad mag in this month's previews I wandered over to the DC boards and found out that the recession has hit Mad Magazine. It's going quarterly, moving on up to 56 pages. and staff are gonna be laid off.
The quality definitely has gone down recently, but I still love it

As much as I talk about how important comics were to my youth, Mad magazine was right there too. This is sad.

Wow. An institution sort of passes. That's pretty damn sad.
Haven't read it in years, but it was a huge part of my childhood. Damn...print media in general is just dying before our eyes.

My friend had a sub until he was 17. I loved reading the mag.

I loved Mad Magazine growing up. My parents would always get me one when I went to the drug store with them.

Sad news, but MAD has been struggling for a while, and I'm surprised it hasn't folded already.
I'd think that with the increasing trend of inexpensive black and white reprints, MAD could do "Essential"-style editions, from #1 onward (even though the first few issues were in color). I would buy those in a heartbeat.
Has anyone picked up the recent collections of Get Lost! and Humbug? The 2-volume HC set of Humbug is only $37 on Amazon.

Handling the news with style typical of MAD, Editor John Ficarra said, “The feedback we've gotten from readers is that only every third issue of MAD is funny, so we've decided to just publish those."
LOL

I wouldn't mind if they went back to B&W or published just the movie/tv satires in colour. THey could do that by putting them in the middle
