watch it, and form your own opinion no big deal if you catch an early showing should be cheap for a matinee showing.

I don't think that's it. Venom got much worse reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed over $200m in the U.S. and Canada. Alita will be lucky to make half of that.

Like Venom, it's making crazy money in China though.
Watching movies inside a movie theater is still a novelty in China. When I was there, I met more people who had never been inside a movie theater than people who had. This was true even in the big cities. Going to a movie theater is still "special" there.

Here in the US, Alita is doing about as well as action movies typically do in February. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltim.../?mo=02&p=.htm

Most people in US have no idea what Alita is, Venom has a major comic following and associated with Spider-Man. The past decade (2010-2019) has been really hard for major movies not associated with a brand or marketed to children to break out.

I think this is going to be one of those cases where general audiances dismiss it while its in theaters, see it on blu ray or streaming because of good word of mouth and when sequel hits it'll rake in good money.

Cult classic is very possible. Question is if that will be enough to warrant a sequel.

I fear this will go the way of Judge Dredd with a cult following but studios having no interest in picking up a sequel despite fans cry for one.

That one was a shame. They really got that character on the second attempt.

I am willing to bet CGI Alita is a big turn off for a lot of people.
However I think it was her defining charachter.

It definetly ended in a way that made way for a squel... Edward Norton was Nova... I can only recognize him after he took off his nova glass... lol (didn't check out who was in the film and all)

They were definetly make a squel... I hope China boom will be enough. As far as i heard it didn't make money like expected in USA.
