Felipe Massafera Problems?

I gave Felipe Massafera a deposit almost a year ago. He went radio silent for a long while after that, but then answered a follow-up email saying he had been sick, and that my commission would be coming up shortly.

Then...nothing. None of my messages have been responded to.

Anyone else in the same boat? I hope he is feeling okay.

I've had pretty good luck with him. He did take a while, but updated me on a somewhat regular basis. I've got 2 pieces on order from him. Haven't heard anything in a while, though.

I really wanted a commission from him and had some exchanges last year. We had almost come to an agreement, but I didn't feel comfortable with the lack of (or lack of timely) responses. So, I didn't jump in. Bummed because I love his work and really wanted one, but couldn't take the plunge. Hope things work out.

Yuuuup.

He is my longest outstanding commission right now, and it's quickly turning to a nightmare.

Set everything up and paid (half) last May. So in a few months we'll be at 1 year. Communication is like pulling teeth, he basically ignored all attempts until 2 or 3 weeks ago I requested a refund. Suddenly low and behold he gets back to me, says he can't refund me because my piece is "80% done". Said he would send a photo of the commission when he got home that night, that was 2 weeks ago, no updates since. I doubt he has actually started anything let alone "80% done"; I never got any notification he was starting, no sketches, nothing.

Luckily I only paid half, but it was still a pretty penny since he is more high profile.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

i just hate stories like these, which seem to be so common. just sours the entire hobby for me. luckily i haven't had a story like this yet happen to me, but if it ever did, especially the ones that drag on for years, i think it would make me stop all together.

Well, I'm now officially at 1 year since paying for a commission and nothing to show for it. Felipe ignores all attempts at communication, I've basically accepted the fact he ripped me off.

Anyone else who is waiting on him have any updates? I seem to remember 2 or 3 of ya on the forum also waiting. Hope ya'll are having better luck than me with him.

Did you pay via credit card funding through Paypal? If so, you can call and charge back.
