Anyone gotten a Barry Kitson commission?

Just curious. I like his artwork but it has a bit of a heftier tag than many other artists. (Full BG piece 1000-1500 bucks). I think I'm going to go ahead and do it as he is also one of the few artists who does not take payment until he has substantially started the piece.

Just wondering if anyone else on here has had any experience with a commission from him and if so what they got for their money.

I know a few Gammabros on here like his stuff... though I'm not sure they've commissioned him before.

I take back what I said about his prices being high. That price range was for a fully painted piece which actually is probably on the nose price wise.

As far as I'm concerned, Barry can charge whatever he wants for at home commissions, as he does full figure, watercolour detailed sketches that are commission quality at every con that he goes to, all he asks is that you stand in line and wait your turn. He generally spends 45 minutes to an hour on each and every single one, and the ones at the end, are just as good as the ones at the beginning.

The Kitson pieces I own...

Barry's a great guy. I got this from him at WWC:

If you go the con route, his pieces are free of charge - you just have to wait in line for them. All of the ones he was doing were awesome as he took a little over an hour on each.

Now you guys have me excited :P in the emails we've exchanged He says he doesn't do "con style" at home commissions as he likes to take more time to make sure he's satisfied with it. The ones you guys posted are quite good as it is so I'm curious now to see what a paid piece looks like.

As many on here know already I am very good friends with Barry (looking forward to a full five days of craziness in Baltimore) and I have been working on him for years about doing at home commissions. I would be in without a doubt and as often as I could afford it. If I can I want to help set them up (as I do Khoi) and get as many people taken care of as possible.

When Barry does the free convention commissions, how does it work where people sometimes get headsketches, full single figures, multiple characters?

Does Barry choose how much effort for each fan with some being the bust vs. full figures?

It is up to the person waiting in line what they get. If you want a full figure watercolor you will have a longer wait. The line waiters that just want a head/bust are pulled out of line after every one or two full figures and Barry does those to keep the line moving and mixing.

We strongly urge that multiple figures are not asked for. If Barry feels the need he will ask and add another character.
