288 is a great number but if the box and the piece say 99, that's dodgy

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Oh wow, even better!

But yeah, agree with Szabo..
They should just put the whole ES number there.
I dunno, maybe some collector in China/Asia are more happy when they see a very small edition numbers on the base..

Watching BSC's review, there's a typo right where it has the ES on the certificate - "42 of am edition of 99"

Still a very impressive piece, I think I'd have preferred a fabric hat and more vibrant colours overall but am glad it turned out well for those who bought him

I cancelled. Really nice bust, but too many nice LBS pieces in the pipeline. I can't give up this much space to a bust.

Which is slightly dodgy to me, as they should just say 288 worldwide - makes it more straightforward and transparent rather than implying it's more limited than it is
Yes, it was only ever slightly dodgy.

The main culprits who exasperated the issue were those retailers who couldn't understand or chose to ignore the manufacturers original product posting that 99 was originally only for a specific region and the international was TBD.

But you never know. Maybe because of the above artificial problem, the manufacturer only ended up producing 99 pieces because of cancellations etc.

Yes LBS are certainly on a lot of peoples radar these days. For obvious reasons.

So far that appears to be the case.

They'll do whatever they want. If this really took off in demand after people get it in hand they'd find an excuse and loophole to make more.

They can only do that within reason. Breach their contract with the licensor (with whatever the agreed upon max edition size was), and they'll lose said license. Easiest way to get around that is to do variants, which is quite widespread amongst manufacturers.

Anyway, most of the negative reaction was based off misinformation. Heck most of the negative feelings still being held by some, even though the correct info is out there now for anyone who can be bothered to look.
