He's amazing. Sideshow has some of the very best sculptors in the biz. Unfortunately, their recent art direction is a major fail for me personally.

Exactly. Art directors should direct these artists to make iconic versions of characters that sell. There is a fine line between creativity and making something unappealing.

Well when you only have to ship 6 of them, it probably moves up the production timeline a bit.

I agree 100% with this. They have the best sculptors by far. But the art direction is just going in the wrong direction imo as well. It's not hard to tell with many of the new releases. They go through a female face argument way, way more than they did years back. The new direction is more cosplay with real life people and proportions overall. I prefer half real and half comic like the fathom statue they mad which was spectacular along with the female terminator.
I love Canale as well. But seems like all his facial expressions have the same closed mouth and expression?
