The paint apps look really glossy and toy like. This has been my criticism of most of the recent Yamato offerings. I'm also tending to grow bored / disillusioned by Yamato's evolving identity as a manufacturer fixated on SM themes.

Most Sorayama paintings are S&M themed and PVC and patent leather are glossy

I know that the statues are based on the art, and there's nothing "wrong" with that, I'm just giving a personal opinion. There's millions of art pieces that Yamato could draw inspiration from, that they chose SM themes is cleary the creative direction they want to take.

With regards to the glossiness I'm talking about, it's the flesh tones that concern me.

I agree, it could be poor photography / lighting causing the glossy effect.

Sex certainly sells, but like beauty, what's defined as sexy is different for each individual.

It's difficult to say what I'd like to see them do, because what's the value in wish-listing? I'm critical of Yamato because they are one of the few companies that has bucked the trend of flooding the statue market with endless renditions of Marvel / DC characters. I give them serious props for that! I also respect that they're now catering (presumably) for a very niche, fetish inspired, market......which is also cool, it's just not for me.

In some ways I agree with Silas Loki. Sorayama is a phenomenal artist, but I am less keen on the direction his art has taken in recent years, and this piece is fairly typical of the milder forms of his recent work. The modelling looks very accomplished, it's just the whole statue I'm not entirely keen on.

Just wish there was more news on Uranos Drops...

Regards,

Richard

I have not been collecting for a long time, the first item I purchased was Sorayama's Silver Bobbed Replicant , then I found Yamato , I have all the standard figures by Luis & Romulo Royo and the two Sorayama figures , I am happy with them as I am not into the DC / Marvel Figures. I am interested is seeing the Greek god figures they are planning to make.
I would like to see more on Uranos Drop as well.
I guess it must be hard for them to select a painting to turn into a figure with so many to choose from.
