Ebay are crooks!!! Did you know?
Did you know that they now charge you a final value fee of 9% on your shipping charge too... I couldn't believe it when I looked at my account today. You sell a Figure for $34 and $10 for shipping, they Charge you $3.30 for the figure and they charge you .90 cents for the shipping. Holy crap.

Even if eBay chose to charge double what they're charging now, I still couldn't think of a better place to sell my stuff.
Until a better alternative presents itself, this is the best deal in town.

My god you have to have a lot of equity in a item to break even. If you bought a piece of art for $500 and wanted to sell it later you have to be able to sell it for $580 just to pay off Ebay and Paypal to break even.

They did it because people were selling a 60 dollar item for $10 and charging $55 shipping.
I don't like the way they have a monopoly on the auction market, but if there's no serious rivals to compete with them, everyone is at their mercy, and they know it.

I had know idea they did that until recently. I guess you might as well offer free shipping and add it to the price. I never did before because I was like that's money that they don't take a cut of. How long have they been doing this? |

Next thing...Paypal will place charges on gifts. Most people escape paypal charges by sending money as a gift so they don't get hit with the charge. Paypal will eventually get wise and take a cut. It's not if, it's when.
It's only a matter of time. |
