Sideshow Collectibles - Wonder Woman PF
Sideshow - Wonder Woman PF arrived today. The Reg not the EX
(no need for the EX).
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to add a ¼ scale Wonder Woman to my collection.
When the piece in question was first revealed, a piece sculpted by Will Harbottle, I knew that
this was the Wonder Woman for my collection.
When images surfaced of the production piece, I along with others was disappointed with the
paint app of the portrait, as it failed to match the amazing work achieve by the Sideshow
painters. Since then an now I have pondered picking up this piece many times. I spotted a deal
on ebay. The piece was slightly higher priced than what Sideshow charged, but the piece was
located in the UK, which means no 20% import charge to pay, shipping was 5x less than
Sideshow‘s US-UK price, and no Covid sur charge, which DHL charge at the moment. I probably
saved about $100 in total. One bonus of buying via ebay was being able to see how the eye’s
looked, prior to purchase. This Wonder Woman has good eyes.
Pros:
I have to admit, in person the portrait paint app looks good. Sure it fails to match the proto,
but it is no where neat as poor as some of the early images suggested.
Overall the piece looks really nice.
The base light up features works a treat. I recall on Sideshow Live the lights look quite dull.
In person they look quite bright, and flickers nicely.
Cons: Few if any.
The Lasso of Truth is constructed from a sturdy wire. It looks ok'ish.
Wonder Woman’s WW gold plastic belt felt cheap when putting it in place. Once the statue has
been put together, my eye was not drawn to the belt. The gold belt look's dull.
QC Issue(s):
Wonder Woman’s left hand features far more grain that it should. This points to laziness on the
part of the factory. It reminds me of the same issue my Sideshow Red Sonja has under her arm.
If i wanted to be super picky:
As is quite common with Sideshow pieces, look closely and there is the odd marks here and
there in the form of paint. This is standard for Sideshow. Why, I do not know? XM Studio pieces
rarely have these issues.
