2016 Statue Awards Nominees & Voting Link

2016 was a year for the ages for statue collectors. Our team has explored the solar system, and after pouring through hundreds of statue releases throughout the year, we gathered the very best for our cosmic competition...but only one can rule the universe! The statues are judged on their Sculpt, Paint, Design, and Production & Build Quality.

Below are our lists of nominees for Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large scale statues. The winners from each category will pitted against one another, in an intergalactic, winner-take-all crusade for Statue of the Year!

You can also vote for your favorite statue company from 2016. Consider everything: quality of the product, consistency, customer service, customer satisfaction...and most importantly, who makes the coolest stuff?

NOTE: The eligibility period for qualification into this year's awards was DECEMBER 1st, 2015 to DECEMBER 25th, 2016. If you vote 'other' in any category, make sure the statue you are voting for was shipped during that period, otherwise your vote in that category is wasted.

IMPORTANT: If you are using your Facebook profile to vote, you MUST 'Like' the Facebook page so that we know you are a real person with a real Facebook account. If you do not 'Like' the page, the vote will NOT count.

Below is more information about this event:

Best Small Scale Statue (1/9 Scale and under)
Think Koto Artfx+ and Iron Studios' 1/10 Art Scale series...there are some impressive statues to choose from here. These statues are definitely no small potatoes...

Best Medium Scale Statue (1/8 to 1/6 Scale, or over $300 USD Retail)
Although Bowen is not currently making statues, some people will still refer to this category as the "Bowen Scale". Many companies are still thriving in this scale, like Kotobukiya , Tsume, DC Collectibles, Kinetiquettes, Tweeterhead, and Weta.

Best Large Scale Statue (1/5 to 1/4 Scale, or over $600 USD Retail)
Considered by many collectors as the marquee category, this category will consider pieces such as Sideshow's Premium Format Figures and Comiquettes, XM Studios, Blitzway, Pop Culture Shock, Prime 1 Studio and many others.

Best X-Large Scale Statue (Over 1/4 Scale or over $1,200 USD Retail)
Legendary and life size busts, the emerging 1/3 scale figures, and really anything else that is overly large like the Prime 1 Transformers (even though technically their scale is smaller than 1/4) are included in this category. These are truly statue giants!

Statue of the Year
The winners from each of the above "Scale" categories will be entered into a Statue of the Year tournament. The winners will be seeded based on the number of votes they each received, then will be pitted against each other in a "Bracket Style" tournament. There will be a semi-final round, with the two winners moving on to the finals, and the winner of that being crowned Statue of the Year!

Best Statue Company
It really is a great time to be a collector, because there are so many great companies vying for our dollars. The best statue company should be chosen based on quality of product, creativity in design, customer satisfaction, quality of customer service, and just who makes the coolest stuff in general. Can anyone stop XM Studios' run of winning this award (they've won 2 years in a row)? You get to decide!

With that said, now is a good time to clear up a few questions that are bound to arise:

1. Why isn't Statue X a candidate?

For various reasons, we want the event to run in early January. Since we all have day jobs, that means we need some time in December to prepare behind the scenes. For this reason, we cut off eligibility at December 25th...so statues had to start shipping before that time. Statues released after December 25th are considered for 2017 Awards (they are not forgotten!).

2. My favourite statue is eligible, but isn't nominated, what gives?

When our candidates are released, please remember these are just the statues that WE feel were the best for the year. YOU can still vote for whatever statue you want, provided it was released between December 1, 2015 and December 25, 2016. Ensure the statue you want to vote for is licensed and meets the criteria of the category, otherwise your vote will be wasted.

3. How do I vote?

Anyone who either (a) 'Likes' the Facebook page (HERE) or (b) is a member at StatueForum is eligible to vote (both are free, so no reason not to be eligible). Voting links will be posted when the event goes live.

4. I thought the eligibility period ended November 30th, why was it extended?

Coupling the fact that we were a little behind in our preparations this year with the fact that several companies had numerous December releases, we felt that extending the deadline would (a) help to lessen confusion by voters about why 'such and such' statue was not included since it was released in 2016 (i.e. released in December)...it's the most common question asked, and (b) make the competition more competitive. The event is ever changing to try to improve. This deadline extension will be permanent going forward.

5. My favourite didn't win, these awards are rigged.

We can assure you they are not rigged...get over it.

It was an amazing first week of voting, as we smashed our previous record number of voters. With that kind of enthusiasm, all of you fans deserve major credit and thanks!

From one of our strongest fields yet, the winners have emerged to take their place among the stars...

2016 BEST SMALL STATUE

The Best Small Statue was BY FAR the most hotly contested of the 2016 Statue Awards. Literally back and forth throughout the entire voting period, it's everyone's favorite Hobbit coming out on top by only the SLIMMEST of margins (this was the closest vote ever!)! Seems like destroying the One Ring wasn't enough for our good friend Frodo...he had to conquer the Statue Awards, too! Congratulations to Weta Workshop.
  1. Lord of the Rings: Frodo Baggins by Weta Workshop - 24.8%
  2. Spider-Man Artfx+ by Kotobukiya - 24.7%
  3. Daredevil Art Scale 1/10 by Iron Studios - 21.1%

2016 BEST MEDIUM STATUE

As the small scale category was our closest of all time, the race for 2016 Best Medium Statue may have been our most one-sided ever. Dragon Shiryu from Tsume-Art dominated this one from start to finish. Tsume fans showed up in force! Congratulations to Tsume on a well deserved victory!
  1. Dragon Shiryu by Tsume-Art - 46.2%
  2. Dark Knight III The Master Race Batman by DC Collectibles - 19.5%
  3. Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) Maquette by Tweeterhead - 11.2%

2016 BEST LARGE STATUE

Turns out Ghost Rider has some spare time from doling out his fiery, vengeful brand of justice because he was able to take home the crown of 2016 Best Large Statue! Congratulations to XM Studios for this incredible achievement.
  1. Ghost Rider by XM Studios - 27.2%
  2. Batman Samurai by XM Studios - 18.0%
  3. The Darkness by XM Studios - 16.7%

2016 BEST X-LARGE STATUE

The Batman universe is incredibly popular among fans worldwide, but this its one of the Dark Knight's most dangerous enemies that finally gets the chance to win. Deathstroke from Prime 1 Studio led from start to finish to walk away with 2016 Best X-Large Statue honors. Congratulations to Prime 1 Studio!
  1. Deathstroke by Prime 1 Studio - 27.1%
  2. Hulkbuster by Imaginarium Art - 19.4%
  3. Batman NoŽl by Prime 1 Studio - 12.7%

2016 BEST STATUE COMPANY

Tsume-Art fans made a furious charge, coming from out of nowhere to nearly win...but in the end, it is once again XM Studios coming out on top for 2016 Best Statue Company. XM's incredible designs that push the boundaries of the industry, and quality matches their effort in design. The fans have spoken, and XM comes out on top for the third consecutive year! Congratulations to XM Studios!
  1. XM Studios - 30.9%
  2. Tsume-Art - 24.0%
  3. Prime 1 Studio - 14.0%

2016 STATUE OF THE YEAR

After 2 hard weeks of voting, we are pleased to announce the 2016 Statue of the Year winner, Dragon Shiryu by Tsume-Art!

Fans from around the world joined in to vote for their favourites this year, but in the end it was Shiryu fans, riding a cosmic tsunami, that wiped away the competition!

Congratulations to Tsume-Art and its fans!

Congratulations also goes out to XM Studios Premium Collectibles, as their Ghost Rider walked away with the highly competitive Best Large Statue Award, and nearly was able to take this crown as well. Congratulations XM!!

As always, we want to most thank the fans for turning out to vote and join in the discussion. We hope you had fun along the way. You, the fans, have made this year's event the biggest and best yet, and we look forward to making next year's Awards even better.

The votes have been cast and the Week 1 Winners have taken their place among the stars! But, the struggle for intergalactic supremacy is not over yet! Only the most heavenly contenders have emerged to compete n the Statue of the Year Tournament, a two round tournament to decide which statue will reign supreme for 2016!

As we've done in the past, the winners are seeded in order of % of vote they obtained during week 1 voting. That means we have the following:
  1. Dragon Shiryu - 46.2%
  2. Ghost Rider - 27.2%
  3. Deathstroke - 27.1%
  4. Frodo Baggins - 24.8%

So, we have the following match-ups for the Semi-Finals:

Semi-Final # 1

Results:

Dragon Shiryu - 76.4%
Frodo Baggins - 23.6%

And, Semi-Final # 2:

Results:

Ghost Rider - 57.3%
Deathstroke - 42.7%

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Statue of the Year Final Matchup
This is it...the moment you've been waiting for...the Statue of the Year Finals!
Tsume-Art fans are showing up 'en masse' and 'en force' to help Dragon Shiryu achieve the ultimate goal, but can Ghost Rider (penance) stare them down and ride away to victory? You get to decide the winner of 2016 Statue of the Year! This could be our closest competition yet!
Results:
Dragon Shiryu - 61.2%
Ghost Rider - 37.9%
Thanks for doing this. Didn't take long for the complaints to start. LOL. It's a thankless job (just like moderating this huge forum).
