Wouldn't it be great if the very next panel simply had Iron Man raise his hand and atomize her with a repulser ray. Then the Avengers just go about their business like nothing happened?

Isn't Echo essentially Taskmaster, but a female and a hero?

That's about it in a nutshell, Crom. From Wikepedia, "... a Native American woman who was born deaf, but had the ability to perfectly duplicate any movement she saw, not only allowing her to expertly play the piano and speak without any impediment, but also to copy martial arts and acrobatic moves. Under the Kingpin's direction, Maya was led to fall in love with Matt Murdock even as she was told by him that Daredevil had killed her father."

This was revealed a while back, so no worries on the spoiler. What a disappointment, though. She's not truly a hero, or wasn't in DD, just a character with special abilities. I don't buy that she's got the experience with the Hand Matt Murdock told Cap or that she's Avengers quality material.

I think alot of Avengers didn't start as "quality material". I guess we will see what happens in the future.

Seems kind of lame to me. I am all for the "Iron Man raises his hand and atomizes her with a repulser ray" scenario.
