Spheres/balls -- where to get them?

I am trying to make an action figure.. and it is going to have a lot of spherecial joints of varying sizes. I can't seem to think where these can be found in all the sizes I need them. Any help would be much appreciated.

I agree, but I will let it slip this time. You might try different size bearings, they are inexpensive and easy to tear apart for the different sizes

I couldn't think of any other way to word it. haha

I tried to emphazise "spheres" haha

The problem is that I need all different sizes of spheres.

It would be cool if there was somekind of mold that had all different sizes and you could just fill them with Castilene and make your own.

haha

That looks perfect. Thank you.

Someone else over at the sculptors clubhouse just showed me this too..

"You can get ball bearings in many materials (some in plastics) and every size imaginable through www.mcmaster.com

Go to Raw Materials and Springs (bottom of the right hand column in the index) and then Plastics or Metals if you want. You can then select Balls and start to sort through all the various choices. have fun, and try not to buy everything! Visiting that site I'm like a kid in a candy shop."

The problem is that the balls I currently have are way to massive and heavy for this project.. haha

You can also try www.smallparts.com I use the white delrin balls for my action figure stuff, I typically set various sizes on short brass tube posts, and make a gang mold on all of them as a strip mold, then using a jewelers cut to open the mold, and pour up resin balls the color of the wax i am using.

You can check your local plastics store, and get acrylic spheres in all sizes, and try the same.

Small parts sells a variety pack, as well, and carries various different materials for the spheres. I also use the delrin for eyes, so they have multiple uses aside from joints.

Thanks Toxcipapa. Greta info. I ended up going to a bead store just so I could work on this project, but the beads were very irregularly shaped. I'll have to try that out.

I want to get some of your wax too. I just started using Castilene and am loving it.. but I think I would like something even harder for even more detail. How much is it?
