Rafael Albuquerque

Any idea how much Rafael Albuquerque charges at conventions? I saw his commission rate on his website, but wondered if his con rate is different.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

last time I picked up a con sketch from Howard Chaykin (which was, admittedly, a few years ago) he was charging something like $30 and doing great head sketches...his comment was, "Just enough so you don't feel ripped off and I don't feel like I was taken advantage of." Chaykin is a great guy to talk to at cons. Very funny and personable.

Confirmed. At the recent Long Beach Comic Con ('12) he was still charging $30 for a basic head sketch. Not the most detailed of sketches mind you, but a good price for a comic legend.

Be prepared though to stand in line for a while if he gets to story-telling with fans in line!

He was a bit cheaper at C2E2 last year, but a buddy of mine just snagged one from him and said he was charging $100 for a head sketch, $200 for a bust, $350 for a torso and $1,000 for a full body piece. Both times I've seen him, he's only done one full body per day.

Indeed! Now, is anyone going to a convention he'll be at and is willing to pick something up?
