Get the Canon Power Shot SD800 SI .. it's easily the best camera on the market.

Olympus has a 7.1 Megapixel camera that is stunning, and CHEAP. I think they're under 2 bills at Best Buy. I bought one of their newfangled SLR digitals, which I love, but prior to that I had an Olympus C-50 which took the best shots for a 5. Megapixel camera.

I highly recommend Olympus.

Me bad and I had just been thinking to get in touch to see where you were with your camera. I haven't really had any time to start playing with the camera yet but I hope to really give it a workout tomorrow. But if you really want to see what the camera can do take a look at the pictures computerfly took using his Powershot G7 in the Have you got a little Captain in you thread. If these pics don't sell you on the camera then I doubt any that I take will. Fantastic macro work and simply awesome pics.

I recently picked up a Canon as well and so far its great. We ended up with a EOS Digital Rebel XT kit. We've been taking lots of pics of the little one. She is growing like a weed!

My old Sony Cybershot crapped out on me last week. I did a little research and picked up a Panasonic TX3 (7.2 MP, 10X optical zoom) Saturday on a pretty good deal as I wanted to have more optical zoom than 3 or 4X at a reasonable price. I am still playing around with it but am pretty pleased so far. The only drawback so far has been the indoor low light performance but have heard there are ways around it, just need to get more familiar with the camera. I have a few pics I took with it here:

yes, I would definitely recommend getting one ... much better than a disposable camera!
