Come to think of it. I may not. I'll have to do some research to see if there is enough canon material to warrant a whole movie about Gollum.

Andy Serkis is directing, but he also directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which I don't think is a good movie.

Hmmm, well, that's curious. I'll be hopeful, but not sure why they went this route.

The Children of Hurin would have been a better choice or Beren and Luthien.

So, this is some kind of prequel? Since he died in The Return of the King.

Yes, it would have to be. My guess is right before or during Fellowship.

I would think this would be better as an animated movie instead of live action. Smeagol's life is briefly described in the Lord of the Rings and some account was given to his family but a full movie based on that is a stretch to say the least.

If you would have told me it was being directed by Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis was reprising his role as Gollum, I'd be super excited. But, hearing Serkis is directing too has me very nervous. I absolutely hated Venom 2, which he also directed.

Was anyone really asking for more Gollum? Just seems like a cash grab to me.

I can see that, but I do think he has to have a special passion for this character and he'd be the star as well as director. We shall see, I agree it is a choice I wouldn't have made with the IP, but I doubt many others want a "War or Wrath" film(s).
