They might give them decent supporting role or cameo as a way to transition, but this will be about putting the franchise in the hands of some hot actor in his 20s/30s and churning out three flicks over ten years. And this won't be a case of Lucas, Spielberg and Ford doing it when they feel like it and they have a script that they like, it will be a three picture deal made from the get-go with specific timelines.
At the end of the day it will be up to the movie going public as to whether they will accept a new actor in the fedora with the bullwhip.

Which is a shame. I read a Joss Whedon interview on EW a few weeks ago when he mentioned the need for new stories. And said something like how many times can Spider-Man be rebooted.
It's just lazy. And only a handful of these reboots/remakes are better or even on par with the originals.

I vaguely remember only seeing bits of one episode. I have the series on my list. I don't remember being thrilled with the idea when it was on just because I thought Harrison Ford or River Phoenix was Indy. There is a timeless quality to some movies and when you bring it to TV at a lower quality (at least that's what I thought back then as TV wasn't what it is now) it loses something. At least to me.

I thought Disney had the rights when they purchased Lucasfilm.
Also, I'd expect one more Indy with Ford. Introduce a new "Indy" (not Shia) to take over the franchise and go from there. Wasn't HF trying to work one more Indy film into his deal for appearing in EPVII?

It's hard to imagine anyone doing it better. However if you've ever watched how River Phoenix played young Indy at the beginning of the third movie, it was pretty amazing how well he channeled Ford's mannerisms.
If they try to get someone to kind of play it like Ford not exactly it could come off as a pale portrayal similar to Brandon Routh kind of doing Christopher Reeve.
I'm still not convinced that's going to be the case when these things are actually firmly into production. Arnold has not exactly been lighting the box office on fire and his clout is fading fast. I'm not sure the studios are going to risk letting him anchor a tentpole franchise. Maybe as King Conan to transition to a young Conan that will take up the franchise. As for Terminator they might try the CGI thing like in Salvation, but doubtful. Or he might be a Terminator, but not the Terminator.

good points. and i have to agree. HF is Indy. no one will ever be Indy in my eyes. and yes RP did a great job.
and as far as Arnie goes. i bet he will do great as an older wiser king Conan. but if he is a terminator in the next terminator film he will have to be an "advanced" model. an old man model terminator. a T-2000..
(in an old mans voice) "can you help an old man across the battle field Mr.Connor?"
"why yes sir."
boom boom boom boom boom!..

Crystal Skull showed that Indy had a son, so the opening is there to have the son continue the adventures instead of rebooting the franchise.
It would be easy to replace Shia LaBeouf as nobody really likes him anyways...

Disney bought Lucasfilm and therefore owns the Indiana Jones property. But Paramount still had marketing and distribution writes.
It's like how Disney bought Marvel but Fox stll lhas the rights to make X-Men movies.

People never seem to understand when I saw "Disney won, game over." It started with changing the music scene with Britney and Justin now they're taking over TV and film with acquistions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilms.
