It's nice but the poop stain behind him kind'a takes away from it.

Yikes! I agree - great painting of Cap, but the background really takes something away from this piece.

He's definitely inspired by Kirby and he intentionally does his commissions especially in the Kirby style. His work on Nexus throughout the years though is wonderful.

I'm a huge Rude fan and I've got to say that the majority of his most recent work that I've seen through commissions seems a bit hasty. This painting included. He's done some great commission work in the past but this latest stuff just isn't up to snuff for me.

I have had past dealings with Steve and Jaynelle. They were both very nice and I happen to like steve's style...

The more I look at this piece, the more I agree with others that the background really ruins it

I don't know Rude's work that well, has he ever worked on a big title for DC or Marvel?

Didn't he do the covers for X-Men: Children of the Atom?

I always liked Rude... however, he has lost some of that wow factor since the 80s.

He did a nice Hulk vs Superman one shot.
Also some fab covers for X-men and Thor mini series.

He's best known for his work on Nexus which is up there in my top 5 series of the 80s along with Byrne's FF, Simonson's Thor, Perez' Wonder Woman, and Miller's Daredevil.

His art on the Superman/Batman: World's Finest and Thor: Godstorm minis was pretty good.
