McFarlane as an artist

Romita
Romita Jr
Bagley
Garney
Andru and a whole slew of 70s and 80s artists who drew him with remarkable consistency in the Romita mold across Amazing, Spectacular and Marvel Team-Up
Larsen
Honorable mention to Ditko, who, in occasional pages and panels drew an exceptional Spidey

I loved McFarlane's Spidey when I was a kid, I have all his Hulks and Spideys for Marvel, but looking back I don't see what appealed to me.

Yup. I think the Hulk is where he got his start in Marvel.

Probably my all-time favorite cover.

My faves are Romita Sr, Gil Kane, and Romita Jr (though I prefer JRJR's older Spidey compared to the more recent "square headed" version).
