They changed the thickness and layout of the pattern on the sides of the midsection as well as tweaked 'the belt' which is likely what is causing the optics of a thicker midsection.

This made me wonder "what kind of gel does Supes use?" That stuff has to have some ultra strong hold, his hair should be a mess flying at those speeds! He probably has to use Krazy Glue for that.
