For all the talk about how screwed up our West Coast ports are, port of Long Beach said today it will process more than 9 million TEUs by the end of the year. Previous record was 8.1 million in 2020. They're now at 8.6 million.

The Transportation Department today will announce another $230M in port infrastructure development grants, part of the Port Action Plan announced in November, to ease congestion where goods and shipping containers got stuck during the global supply-chain logjam.
Number of shipping containers stranded at the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports has been halved since they moved to 24/7 operations. Railroads and terminals are offering incentives to move goods on nights and weekends, and pop-up container yards are easing congestion.
