Hahah.. friends of mine up the street hollered at me to come help them corral a wolf earlier. Wolves are usually more scared of people than we are of them.
We don't have coyotes or wolves around here, so that was a little interesting. We live in an expensive area though, with houses people usually just live in while on vacation, so maybe the wolves thought "lack of people" meant "easy food". There's lots of deer, turkey and other wildlife that just wander our streets here, though.. so...my wife almost hit a buck not even a week ago, at dusk no less.
Anyways, yeah, it was a lone wolf, which is weird. They usually come in packs. Wasn't a hybrid, either. We corralled it in some guy's empty rv "overhang", then barricaded it with a couple vehicles. Then called animal control.
Edit: fyi I'm a member of a couple of animal foundations, by "animal control" I mean
the wolf will be placed back in the wild sooner rather than later, just not around here. He might spend some time on a reservation beforehand, though. Some people think "animal control" means euthanasia, which isn't always the case. Plus, wolves are endangered, so that's probably illegal to begin with. Haha. I just wanted to clear up that he's being cared for properly and affectionately.

He wasn't feral. Thank God, because that probably WOULD result in the wolf being put down.
He was scared sh!t-less, though.. haha.. understandably. Showing his teeth and growling, but also trying to keep his distance from us.
But yeah, usually when a male wolf is off by himself, it's because he's been ostracized from the pack for some reason.
I got the card and the name of the team who picked him up (two people), so I can call them and find out what happened to the wolf later.
Later, guys.
